Presentations will take place in presense of ISCB members from October 31 to November 4, 2016 at the address: Astana, Dostyk avenue 18, Business-center "Moskva", 10th floor.
Registration of the applicants will take place on the 1st floor (reception of business-center "Moskva"). Please bring an identity card and 7 printed copies of your presentation in English for ISCB members with you, and a copy of your presentation on flash drive. Please specify applicant name, type of application (SSG or JRG) and the last 4 digits of the application number in the presentation file name . In case of late attendance the application will be withdrawn from the contest.

Request for expressions of interest (EOI) from experts.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Fostering Productive Innovation Project, and intends to request for expressions of interest from prospective candidates to join the International Science and Commercialization Board (ISCB).
Dear International Experts!
We are glad to inform you that we are extending the period of submittting expressions of interest to July 18, 2016.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Fostering Productive Innovation Project, and intends to request for expressions of interest from prospective candidates to join the International Science and Commercialization Board (ISCB).
The ISCB is established as an independent advisory body to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan in accordance with the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development №8463-KZ of June 9, 2015, ratified by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan №450-IV of February 2, 2016.
The ISCB perform its duties in accordance with the Loan Agreement, the Project Operational Manual, related Terms of reference, the Statute and the Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics will be developed by ISCB and subject to MES RK and WB approval.
The ISCB is expected to act for the whole duration of the Project, from 2016 to 2020.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan is seeking 7 individual experts as international members of the ISCB with the following background:

The Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan announces the contest on grant funding for Senior Scientists Groups (SSG) and Junior Researcher Groups (JRG) for commercialization of research and development results within Fostering Productive Innovation Project. SSG and JRG Grants will be provided to Kazakhstan's leading scientists, researchers and talented young businessmen who have expressed a desire to carry out industrial research and development for introduction in manufacturing and / or to market technology for further commercialization. The period of implementation under the grant for technology commercialization should not exceed three years from the date of the beginning of the sub-project.
The contest is open for research and development proposals from scientists’ groups and individuals to conduct high quality scientific research with realistic commercial potential. The groups should be staffed with not more than 7 persons, not less than 50% of whom must be citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan including the head of the sub-project. Grant recipients will need to incorporate themselves in order to receive funding.
Selection process will be held in two stages by the International Science and Commercialization Board. In addition to high scientific merit of the proposed research and development sub-project, the emphasis will be placed on the commercial potential of the technology and readiness of the technology to enter the market, as well as the existence of the private partner and / or a client for the technology.
The amount of approved funding for each group will vary depending on the volume of work envisaged, the scientific disciplines and features of research. The amount of funding application should not exceed 230 million tenge for SSG and 180 million tenge for JRG.
The expected outcome of the proposed sub-project will be achieving proven technology commercialization results (making sales at a minimum) by the created company by the end of 3 years of the project implementation and/or attraction of investments from enterprise sector and/or selling technology through licensing.
Application period starts on July 25, 2016. Applications must be submitted only online via portal.fpip.kz in English. Applicants are encouraged to ensure high quality English translation. Applications deadline is August 15, 2016, 6:00 pm Astana time. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
All applications must meet pre-defined formatting and information standards. Applications not meeting these requirements will be rejected.
